Christmas card from Buckingham Palace

In December, the students of class 7a made and painted Christmas cards by hand with great effort and creativity. With an appropriate holiday message, they sent their works to His Royal Majesty, King Charles III.
Over the past two months, the students have been eagerly awaiting a response from the Palace. To their great enthusiasm, the answer has arrived in recent days.
The students of Class 7a can now proudly boast of the fact that they received a Christmas card from the King of England, sent directly from Buckingham Palace. This
special event will certainly remain in their fond memory as a unique experience and confirmation that effort and a nice gesture always pay off.

Croatian Regional Swimming Championship held at the Kantrida Swimming Pools

On Saturday, February 7, the Croatian Regional Swimming Championship for cadets, younger cadets and beginners was held at the Kantrida Swimming Pools in Rijeka. A total of 385 swimmers participated in the competition, of which more than 90 were members of the Kantrida Swimming Club.

Behind the swimmers is a successful and fulfilling competition day, during which numerous medals were won, personal records were swam and the norms for going to the National Championships were achieved. All participants showed great effort, fighting spirit and sportsmanship.

We are especially proud of our Leo Duvančić, a student of the 7a class, who achieved excellent results in this competition. Leo won two medals – a silver medal in the 400-metre freestyle, as well as a gold medal in the relay, which once again showed his dedication and success in swimming.

We congratulate our Leo on his excellent success, as well as all other swimmers on their efforts, commitment and excellent presentation of their clubs. We wish them a lot of success in future competitions.

The Elf on the Shelf Project in Class 7a

During the festive month of December, the students of Class 7a enjoyed a special Christmas project called Elf on the Shelf, which brought joy, creativity, and a warm holiday atmosphere into their classroom and homes.

Two cheerful and not-at-all-scary elves travelled from one home to another, meeting the Class 7a students and their family members along the way. In every home, the elves left behind playful surprises and a bit of harmless mischief that made everyone smile. At times, they pretended to be Christmas decorations and appeared on Christmas trees, while on other occasions they caused trouble by spilling water or even breaking a television.

The elves were naughty in a sweet and funny way. They could not resist eating chocolates from Advent calendars and sometimes acted without considering danger — such as playing with an iron, at least in imagination. Using flour as if it were snow, they decided to make snow angels in this snowy flour landscape.

Some elves decided they had had enough of school and decided they did not want any more homework. Others chose relaxation instead: even though it was winter and not summer, they spread out towels in the living room, prepared sunscreen, put on sunglasses, picked a good book, and enjoyed their holiday moment.

The Elf on the Shelf project encouraged creativity, imagination, and family involvement, making December especially memorable for the students. The laughter, photos, and shared stories will remain a lovely reminder of a joyful Christmas season spent together by Class 7a.

Class 7a Creates Christmas Cards for King Charles III

Today, the students of Class 7A put in a great deal of effort and creativity while making their own Christmas cards. Throughout the activity, they not only demonstrated imagination and skill, but also had a wonderful time. Each card was decorated with festive holiday messages written with warmth and respect for His Majesty, King Charles III.
Once the cards were carefully completed, they were sent to Buckingham Palace. We hope that our Christmas greetings will bring joy to the King just as the creation of the cards delighted the students of 7A, and we look forward to a reply from the Palace.

Christmas Spirit in Class 7a Classroom

The students of Class 7a joyfully welcomed the Christmas season and all the little delights it brings. Guided by the warmth and togetherness in our hearts, we decided to decorate our classroom in true Christmas spirit.
We enjoyed every moment of the decorating process – from trimming the Christmas tree and lighting the first Advent candle, and then the one that followed, to putting up lights that filled our space with holiday sparkle. We had especially good fun taking photos with our Christmas photo frame and various festive accessories, such as Christmas glasses, “Ho, Ho, Ho” signs, and other cheerful props.
To all school staff and students, as well as to all people of goodwill, we wish a merry and blessed Christmas and a happy and successful New Year, filled with health, joy, and peace.

On Friday, September 26, the students of classes 1.a and 3.b marked the European Day of Languages during their English lesson.

Through fun and creative activities, the students coloured traditional costumes from different European countries. Afterwards, they cut out the costumes and dressed their paper dolls in them. In this way, they learnt more about the diversity of folk costumes and the rich cultural heritage of Europe.

Celebrating the European Day of Languages was an excellent opportunity for students to develop curiosity, creativity, and intercultural awareness through play and creative work.

European Day of Languages at Our School

Although the European Day of Languages is officially celebrated on September 26, this year our school will be on a field trip on that date. For that reason, we decided to mark the occasion a few days earlier – on Monday, September 22.

To celebrate, we organised a school-wide quiz. Several teams of five members each took part – and, believe it or not, one of the teams was made up of our teachers! Everyone joined in with great enthusiasm and showed impressive knowledge.

Of course, only one team could be declared the winner in the end. Still, what truly mattered was not who won, but the joy of taking part. We hope that all our students learned something new and interesting during the quiz.

The quiz and the celebration of the European Day of Languages were prepared and organised by our foreign language teachers.

Congratulations to all participants!

Seventh Graders Visit the Art Explora Festival

On Monday, September 15, 7th grade students from Podmurvice Primary School had an amazing opportunity to take part in the Art Explora Festival. This unique event takes place on a ship that sails into different ports around the world, bringing art and creativity to new places.

During their visit, our students stepped into the world of virtual reality and explored three cities – ancient Athens, ancient Alexandria, and renaissance Venice in a whole new way. They were also invited to participate in a creative workshop where they were challenged to show, through visual art, how they imagine a rich and a poor woman from those cities.

The exhibition tour, the virtual city experience, and the hands-on workshop were all incredibly inspiring and exciting. Our students returned full of new impressions, fresh ideas, and a greater appreciation for the power of art in connecting cultures.

A new school year in the sign of unity – a decorated English classroom

Over the past two weeks, on the eve of the new school year, students, parents, a teaching assistant, and a classroom teacher have come together to completely refurbish the new English classroom. The initiators of the entire action, with their enthusiasm and engagement, were the 7th-grade class teacher, Davorka Nekić, and the teaching assistant, Ružica Žunić. Their initiative and commitment encouraged students and parents to get involved, creating a space where learning would be even more enjoyable and stimulating. We would like to express our gratitude to the father of the class teacher, Milan Glavaš, the parents Raul and Barbara Labinac, and the 7th-grade students, David Labinac, Patrik Zbašnik, and Lana Pavić. Through joint efforts, the classroom space has undergone a complete transformation, taking on an attractive and child-friendly appearance. Now, ready and renovated, the classroom is eagerly awaiting its students, Grade 7a, who will sit in the new classroom for the first time on September 8. We believe that the new room will bring even more joy to learning and a sense of pride because it was created through joint work and cooperation.
